Serving the Community The Bay-Rama
Fishfly Festival provides the fiscal means by which the organization is
able to serve the needs of the community.
Past contributions and donations by Bay-Rama include scholarships
to graduation seniors in the Anchor Bay School District amounting to over
$47,000 since 1988. Moneys
have benefited the MacDonald Public Library, New Baltimore Historical
Society, Lions, Goodfellows, New Baltimore Recreation Center,D.A.R.E.,
A.B.H.S., Marching Band, Senior All Night Party, etc. Over half a million and counting To date our largest donation came in 1999 when we gave the City of New Baltimore the piece of property located adjacent to the downtown waterfront park. This property, valued at $550,000, added an additional 227 feet of lake-front to the existing park. An all volunteer corps erected a children’s play structure on the site. Bay-Rama had previously purchased and donated land to enlarge this park plus restrooms, picnic tables, boat docks and seawall. It is the only park to provide free access to the waters of Anchor Bay and Lake St. Clair. The committee hosts the annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony, a sing-a-long and Santa’s visit complete with hot chocolate and cookies at the Rec. Center. In the past we purchased and repaired the city’s holiday decorations. Each March, the Bay-Rama Queen’s Pageant is held to select a queen and her court. The Bay-Rama float, with Queen and Court aboard, represents New Baltimore in 10 area parades throughout the summer. The float is built, maintained and transported by dedicated committee members. For our current project please see the following article on FESTIVAL PARK. Year round service From the cultural to the recreational, reaching students to senior citizens, Bay-Rama has offered assistance. Bay-Rama is not just a summer festival; it’s a committee of dedicated volunteers who work throughout the year. We invite all potential volunteers or those who just wish to learn more about the organization, to attend a meeting. Held the third Wednesday of each month, except July and December, at the V.F.W. Cove, Post 7573, on 23 Mile Road across from Kroger, 7:00 p.m. Or visit us right here on bay-rama.com!
